Gardening Basics
FoxFarm 101
"Foxfarm offers several types of soil mixes and potting soils, an all purpose planting mix, and a soil conditioner. Different ingredients, nutrient content, and textures are what make our soil mixes the perfect choice for many gardening situations. Light Warrior is perfect for starting seeds and Soil Conditioner for starting new gardens and revitalizing old soil.Growing a plant indoors requires a well-drained slightly acidic soil and would benefit from Mycorrhizae; Happy Frog would be the soil of choice. If growing a plant outdoors on a dry patio or in a raised bed that is low maintenance, then Planting Mix would look good, retain water, and feed the plant gently.
Foxfarm liquid fertilizers are unique one-part nutrients with complete macro and micro-nutrient formulations, and are a perfect blend of organic and mineral based fertilizers. The application rates are for general use of one single product, while the feeding schedule rates are for frequent fertilizations with multiple fertilizers and are much lower doses. Always refer to the Feeding Schedule for correct fertilizer application.
Our soluble fertilizers (water crystal formation) are easily mixed into water to encourage robust flowering. Any flowering stimulant is a fertilizer additive or supplement that has higher-than-normal amounts of phosphorus and/or potassium as well as other trace minerals.
The goal is weight gain in fruit and flowering crops, especially for commercial growers where quantity is much more important than quality. Other benefits can include but are not limited to larger fruit/flower, earlier ripening, fruit swelling, flower crowning, accelerated finishing, heavy essential oil production, vibrant colors, complex smells, amplified enzyme and chlorophyll production, and overall better plant performance."

Fertilizers
"Both hydroponic fertilizers and those intended for use in soil contain the three major nutrients: nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. The major difference in hydroponic fertilizers is that they contain the proper amounts of all the essential micronutrients—which fertilizers intended for use with soil—do not.The plants are expected to find these elements in the soil, assuming that the trace elements are present. Problems can arise for the plants if any or all of the micronutrients are not present in the soil or are depleted by successive (or excessive) plantings. FoxFarm’s Marine Cuisine Time-Release Fertilizer is perfect for outdoor plantings and landscapes.Balanced micro nutrient package encourages outstanding results all year long.
Hydroponic fertilizers are usually in a more refined form with fewer impurities making them more stable and more soluble for better absorption. Grow Big Hydroponic Liquid fertilizer allows for pH adjustment without nutrient lock-up. The micronutrient formulation is great for tender roots to achieve instant nutrition.
Organic fertilizers, in most cases, are very different than either hydroponic or soil fertilizers both in composition and how they deliver the nutrient to the plants. Organic fertilizers rely on the synergistic action of bacteria and microbes to break down nutritional substances for easier uptake by the plants.
Happy Frog Fertilizers work in harmony to gently release nutrition over a one-month period as well as encourage millions of beneficial soil microbes to flourish."

Indoor Gardening
"The right environment is critical when considering growing indoors. The ideal humidity for indoors falls between 40 & 60 percent. Some plants like higher humidity, but then higher humidity can result in powdery mildew. Temperature should be consistently between 68 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. The higher the temperature gets, the higher your humidity will get.Indoor plants need an ample supply of CO2 from good air movement. Oscillating fans are frequently used to create air movement within a grow Start off with good water pH. The most important rule to remember with pH is to avoid extremes.
When working with hydroponics you typically want your pH to fall between 5.8 and 6.2. When growing in soil or coco you want your pH between 6.0 and 6.8. If the pH falls too low or becomes too high, some nutrients will become less available to plants.
Remember all plants are not alike. This is just a guideline. Some plants want a higher or lower pH or PPM level than another plant.
It is important to have adequate lighting indoors. High Intensity Discharge lighting (HID) includes HPS (High Pressure Sodium) and MH (Metal Halide). T5 lighting is a high-output fluorescent light with low heat and energy consumption. It is an ideal light for cuttings, mother plants and short growth cycles. All plants require light in order to grow and bloom."

Organic Gardening
"Organic fertilizers must be broken down and converted into the form that plants take up. Mineral Salt fertilizers are stronger and faster acting because the elements are in a chemical form that is immediately available to plants. One example is Nitrogen. Plants more readily absorb nitrogen in the nitrate form than ammonium. This is why mineral salt fertilizers such as potassium nitrate are more fast acting as fertilizers than the organic form such as guano and worm castings that contain nitrogen in the organic form.
The availability of salt fertilizers makes burning and over-fertilization a hazard. FoxFarm’s Happy Frog® fertilizers are 100% organic dry fertilizer blends with nutrient ratios tailored to the needs of various plants, as well as beneficial soil microbes to vitalize the soil microbial life. They provide nutrition for plants over a one-month period or longer.
Notice the different NPK ratios of Premium Lawn (8-2-6) and Bulb Food (3-8-8). These provide the exact nutrients that those plant types need.
Our nutrient rich Happy Frog® Potting Soil is highly recommended for container gardens. Ready to use right out of the bag, it is pH adjusted to allow for maximum nutrient uptake. Our unique mix is alive with beneficial soil microbes and mycorrhizal fungi that dramatically expand root development enabling plants to feed more aggressively. "
